Best-selling author Jack Higgins has passed away aged 92.
The writer, whose real name was Henry Patterson, published 85 books throughout his career.
He was perhaps best known for being the author of the military thriller The Eagle has landed, which was later made into an eponymous movie with Michael Caine.
Higgins passed away from natural causes, surrounded by his family.
