The tax man is a happy man today, at everyone else’s expense, of course.
Figured released today show that the state took in an unexpected €805m more in tax during the first half of 2015.
In total, tax take at the end of June was €20.6bn, which compares to the projected figure of €19.8bn.
When compared with the same period last year, the tax take was €2.16bn higher, which equals to 11.7pc.
According to the Department for Finance, the better than expected result is due to increased tax and non-tax receipts, in addition to some one-off transactions.
