Biden says he is definitely not pulling out and is getting ready to make a big campaign run

US President Joe Biden, who is becoming more and more embittered, will go on a campaign trail in Pennsylvania today, a battleground state, when he meets with senior House Democrats to discuss his candidature. Hakeem Jeffries is the House Democratic Leader, reports RTE.

After an unimpressive performance in a June 27 debate with Republican Donald Trump, Mr. Biden, 81, is coming under increasing pressure from other Democrats to withdraw from the race for reelection.

But Mr. Biden has pledged to continue running and win the presidential election on November 5.

Given the argument, the president is finding it difficult to quell a simmering rebellion among some congressional Democrats and powerful contributors who believe he is incapable of defeating Mr. Trump, reports RTE.

Even the much-awaited interview with ABC News failed to allay those worries.

Yesterday, Mr. Biden maintained a low profile, going to church in Wilmington, Delaware, his hometown, alone with his sister Valerie Biden Owens, who serves as a major adviser.

In the interview on Friday, Mr. Biden ruled out the possibility that Democratic leaders would band together to attempt to convince him to resign, saying that only the “Lord Almighty” could convince him to do so, reports RTE.

The White House claimed that he had a conversation with his campaign’s national co-chairs yesterday, but it did not elaborate.

According to his campaign, Mr. Biden will speak at a church service in northwest Philadelphia today before heading to Harrisburg, the state capital, for a community organising event with local Democrats and union members, reports RTE.
