In an unprecedented move, the Gardai may soon have access to your PPS number.
It is claimed the main advantage in this will be to streamline traffic offences which may have been committed by someone which could be attached to particular motorcars.
People buying and selling cars willbe obliged to exchange PPS numbers and the PPS number will then be attached to the log book of the car.
It has also been proposed that people with unpaid fines will not be allowed to buy a car without the debt being attached to the car.
Privacy organisations and private property rights activists have already voiced concerns that cars will be confiscated from people with unpaid property and water charges.
