The JobBridge scheme has proved controversial at best, and downright inadequate at worst.
It has been revealed today that out of 1,200 interns hired, just 27 were kept on in their jobs by local authorities.
Now, those authorities have been accused of ‘taking advantage of free labor’.
Anti-Austerity Alliance TD Paul Murphy highlighted that the figures mean that only 21% of interns gained employment, which is far less than the 61% figure often quoted by Government when talking about the number of interns who go on to full-time employment.
