U.S President Donald Trump has brokered a historic Middle East peace agreement between Israel and United Arab Emirates which has also resulted in Israel halting its planned annexation of more occupied Palestinian land.
The deal, which was announced on Thursday, came after President Trump managed to cajole Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Zayed al Nahyan into normalising relations between their two countries.
There were fears of a Third Palestinian Intifada (Uprising) as the Israeli government intended to carry out a “unilateral annexation” of areas of the occupied West Bank which is land sought by the Palestinians for their future state but this has now been avoided for the time being.
The UAE, along with most other Arab nations, has refused to recognise the state of Israel and concordantly had no diplomatic relations with Tel Aviv but with this historic agreement it is postulated that other Middle Eastern states will end this long standoff in trade for concessions for a future Palestinian state.
