In what turned out to be a nice afternoon off for 40 Gardai yesterday, a so-called “heavy handed approach” was going to be needed for an expected large Irish Water protest yesterday on Kildare St, outside the Dail.
Instead what happened was 40 Gardai standing around waiting for the protest that never happened.
The only usual one Gardai standing at the gateway to Leinster House had a bit of a chat with his comrades.
Neither the Gardai or the Commissioner would comment on the bizarre incident.
