Dutch actor Rutger Hauer has passed away, aged 75.
Hauer, perhaps best known for playing the part of replicant Roy Batty in the 1982 sci-fi classic Blade Runner, had a long career both in his native Holland and in Hollywood.
The actor became a household name for his part in Blade Runner. Hauer garnered international recognition for his role as a rogue synthetic humanoid, particularly after it emerged that he had improvised most of his monologue near the end of the movie.
He also had prominent roles in well known hits like Ladyhawke (1985), The Hitcher (1986), and Sin City (2005), among many others.
Hauer passed away at his home in the Netherlands after a short illness, aged 75.
