
In Co Kildare, a delivery driver perished after inadvertently flipping his vehicle into the Grand Canal, reports Breaking News.
The man, a 40-year-old local, delivered meals to a trailer parked close to the canal via takeout, according to the Irish Times.
It is thought that he reversed his automobile into the river in the dark as he was leaving, reports Breaking News.
The incident happened at Grangeclare West in Kilmeague on Saturday at around 8 p.m.
The National Ambulance Service crew pulled the man out of the water and began treating him. At the scene, he was declared dead, reports Breaking News.
A postmortem will be performed when his corpse has been taken from the site.
The Garda Water Unit and forensic crash investigators are detaining the site for analysis. Here, access along the canal has been limited.
Witnesses are being urged to come forward by the GardaÃ. There have been no eyewitnesses to the tragedy to far, according to The Irish Times, although several people heard the splash when the car entered the water, reports Breaking News.
