A garda source has told The Liberal that the garda’s stab vest “saved his life”, after a stabbing incident in Dublin city centre.
Thankfully, it appears the garda has managed to escape the traumatic event with minor injuries, but according to a Garda, things could have been very different.
“Look, it’s very dangerous out there, we know that, but he got lucky today. He was wearing his vest and from what I hear in the station, it saved his life. He’ll be grand, but he’s fairly shook up as is his colleague.”
A man has been arrested following an attack on a garda in Dublin city centre this evening on Capel Street, shortly after 6pm.
The garda, who was on a high-visibility patrol, was stabbed in an unprovoked assault. He was rushed to hospital, thankfully with non-life-threatening injuries.
The suspect is in custody and can be questioned for up to 24 hours.
