A Garda was fatally injured during a speeding checkpoint operation in north County Dublin.
Gardaà reported that a motorcyclist collided with Garda Kevin Flatley at the Lanestown checkpoint around 1pm.
Gda Flatley, aged 49, served in the Roads Policing Unit and leaves behind two young children.
The motorcyclist, in his 30s, was also injured and taken to Beaumont Hospital, where he remains in serious condition.
Emergency services and Gardaà are on-site at the R132 in Lanestown, Co Dublin.
The road is closed for forensic and technical investigations, with local diversions in effect.
Gardaà are seeking witnesses and any available footage of the incident.
