
Met Éireann have used a status Red wind warning for counties Mayo, Clare, Galway, Donegal, Leitrim and Sligo as Storm Darragh makes land.
The Red warning will be in effect in Mayo from 10pm tonight until 3am tomorrow morning, and in counties Clare and Galway from 10pm until 2am tomorrow and also in Co Donegal, Leitrim and Sligo from 11pm until 3am tomorrow.
Meanwhile, a further Status Orange wind warnings have been extended across the rest of Ireland.
An Amber wind warning has been issued for Northern Ireland from 1am until 9pm tomorrow, with potentially damaging winds forecast.
The national weather forecaster says that extremely strong and gusty northwest winds are set to hit Munster and Connacht from 8pm tonight while the warning is in effect for Leinster and counties Cavan, Donegal and Monaghan from 10pm tonight.
The Status Orange warnings will be in effect until 10am tomorrow nationwide.
People are advised to be extremely careful while out and about today, in particular on B roads tonight.
