France has stepped up its response to the Covon 19 coronavirus pandemic and banned all public gatherings and social contacts, French President Emmanuel Macron announced.
The country will be completely locked down for at least 15 days from Tuesday noon, he said.
“Never before in history has France had to take such exceptional measures in a time of peace,” Macron said. “You will no longer be able to see your loved ones… or continue your daily routine.”
People will only allowed go to supermarkets, pharmacies and places of work will be allowed and all workers have been told to work from home if at all possible.
