In the past few minutes Cuban state TV have confirmed that former president Fidel Castro has died aged 90.
Although his exact cause of death is not yet known. It is understood the Communist ex-president had been in poor health for many years and had not made many public appearances.
The news of Castro’s death was confirmed by his brother and current Cuban president Raul who told reporters: “The commander and chief of the Cuban revolution died at 22:29 this evening”
Castro served an astonishing 30 years as president of the Caribbean island.
