Gardaí in Dundalk Co Louth have begun an investigation tis morning after a bookmakers was subjected to an armed robbery last night.

It is understood the Boylesports bookmakers on Clanbrassil Street in the town was robbed after a man armed with a firearm threatened staff at approximately 7pm last night.
Reports say the man threatened staff and made off with a sum of cash. Gardaí say the suspect, who was wearing dark clothing and had his face covered, escaped via Long Walk and made his way back onto Clanbrassil Street via a laneway.
Gardaí ate urging anyone who may have any information or noticed anything suspicious in the area to contact them immediately.
