BREAKING: DUP’s Arlene Foster ‘positive’ as Sinn Fein back powersharing to be restored in Stormont

It’s looking increasingly likely that powersharing will be restored in Stormont in Northern Ireland as insiders say all sides appear to be backing a deal that would see the Northern Ireland powersharing government sitting back in Stormont.

It’s understood that the DUP’s Arlene Foster is ‘positive’ about the proposed deal and says that there is a way to re-establish a Northen Ireland government.

According to RTE, Varadkar said: “We are at a very sensitive point now in the talks in Northern Ireland and Stormont.”

He said: “I think there is a real chance that today, or if not by Monday, we can have the Northern Ireland Assembly and executive back up and running again.

“I’ve always thought that there would be a window of opportunity between the British election and their decision to ratify the Withdrawal Agreement and the 13th January to get those institutions back up and running again.”
