BREAKING: Emma Raducanu in tears at tennis match as ‘possible stalker’ given restraining order

Karolina Muchová 6-7(6), 4-6. However, the match gained attention due to an incident where Raducanu became visibly emotional and approached the umpire in tears early in the first set. This was later explained by the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) as a response to a man in the crowd who had exhibited “fixated behavior” toward her.

Emma Raducanu was approached and given a letter by the man who was later ejected from the stands during her second round match in Dubai.

The 22-year-old broke down in tears towards the start of the match, approached umpire Miriam Bley and then hid behind the official’s chair.

A WTA statement later said that Raducanu had spotted someone who had ‘exhibited fixated behaviour’ on Monday.

The individual had approached Raducanu in a public space on Monday, February 17, and was spotted in the front rows during her match on Tuesday, leading to his ejection from the venue. Following the match, Raducanu took an unscheduled break but continued playing after receiving support from Muchová and officials.

Since the match, Raducanu has returned to London and broke her silence on the incident via social media on February 19, describing it as a “difficult experience” but expressing pride in her resilience. She thanked fans for their support and Muchová for her sportsmanship, indicating she is now focusing on recovery and future events.
