BREAKING: Gunman shoots up University in Florida

A shooting at Florida State University’s Student Union has left at least six people injured, prompting a campus lockdown and a swift police response. The incident, reported at noon, sent students fleeing as authorities secured the area.

A suspect is in custody, with one person shot and captured, though the search for additional shooters continues. Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare is treating six victims, one in critical condition and five in serious condition, with ambulances rushing to the scene.

Students sheltered in place, some hiding in a bowling alley beneath the Student Union, as alarms blared across campus. RTÉ reported a student’s account: “It was chaos—people ran, sirens everywhere.” The university canceled all classes and events for the day.

Governor Ron DeSantis, addressing RTÉ, expressed solidarity: “Our prayers are with FSU as law enforcement responds.” The FBI is on-site, assisting local police, while the campus remains an active scene as investigations unfold.
