Eddie Hearn, Anthony Joshua’s promoter, has given an update on his condition following a crash in Nigeria earlier today.
Two-time heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has had a very lucky escape after receiving only minor injuries after a serious car crash on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway in Makun, Ogun State, Nigeria, today.
The Lexus SUV carrying the 36-yr-old boxer collided with a stationary truck, resulting in the deaths of two passengers at the scene.
Joshua, seated in the back, was part of a two-vehicle convoy visiting family during Christmas following his recent knockout win over Jake Paul. Eyewitnesses reported he appeared dazed but was rescued quickly. Promoter Eddie Hearn confirmed Joshua seems okay, with authorities investigating the cause.
Sadly, two of Anthony’s friends died in the crash with investigations ongoing.
Eddie Hearn confirms that AJ has been injured in the crash, is in hospital for checks and observation, and will remain there for some time.
Footage online appears to show Joshua alert but very dazed. Witnesses say it was an explosive crash at considerable speed.
