38-yr-old Leo Varadkar has been elected as Taoiseach of Ireland having won 57 votes for, 50 votes against.
Speaking in the Dail, the Castleknock native said that he thinks all politicians in the Dail have what’s best for the Irish people in their minds, something similar to what Enda Kenny said yesterday when he finally stepped down as Taoiseach.
The leader of Fine Gael, Varadkar will now go to Áras an Uachtaráin to receive his seal of office from President Michael D Higgins.
