Gardai have confirmed that the body of a man aged in his 20s has been recovered from a canal in Co Cavan.
It’s understood that the man was travelling in a car with two other males when it went into the Woodford River at Ballyheady Bridge on the Ballinamore to Ballyconnell Road at 6:30pm on Saturday evening.
The two other men who were in the car managed to swim to the shore and raise the alarm.
Following a search in the canal, the man’s body was located and taken from the water by the garda diving team. Sadly the man was pronounced dead at the scene. RIP
