A 30-yr-old man from west Belfast has died after being assaulted in the Suffolk Road area last week.

Carl Holland was punched outside a licensed premises in the city on Friday night, suffering a severe head injury. He was rushed to hospital but later passed away.

Police arrested a 20-year-old man on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent. A 46-year-old man and a 44-year-old woman were also detained on suspicion of conspiracy to commit grievous bodily harm. All three have since been released on bail while investigations continue.

Detective Inspector Collins from the PSNI said a verbal dispute had broken out inside the premises earlier that evening on 12 June. Around 9pm, a man arrived by taxi, struck Mr Holland, and then left in the same taxi.

Officers are now urging anyone with information to come forward, no matter how minor it might seem. They are especially keen to speak to witnesses who saw either the earlier argument or the assault itself, or anyone who may have recorded footage on CCTV, mobile phones, or dash cams.
