
A tragic road traffic collision occurred in North Dublin, resulting in the death of a man in his 60s and injuries to a woman. The incident took place on the R129 at Thomondstown near Blakes Cross shortly before 10 AM on Friday morning.
The man, who was driving one of the involved vehicles, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
A female passenger from another vehicle was transported to the hospital, but her injuries are described as non-life-threatening.
The R129 road was closed at Blakes Cross to allow for a thorough investigation by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators. Diversions were put in place to manage traffic.
Gardaà are urging anyone who witnessed the collision or was traveling in the vicinity of Blakes Cross and Thomondstown between 9:30 AM and 10:00 AM to come forward. They are particularly interested in obtaining any camera footage, including dash-cam videos, that might assist in their investigation.
This accident underscores the ongoing concerns regarding road safety, especially in areas with high traffic density. The community is left to mourn the loss while hoping for the swift recovery of the injured woman.
