BREAKING: Met Eireann has issued a heat warning as sweltering temperatures are en route to Ireland

The national forecaster Met Eireann has issued a high temperature warning for a number of counties as sweltering heat approaches Ireland.

The weather warning has initially been issued for the following six counties, Galway, Mayo, Clare, Cork, Kerry and Limerick, but could see more counties included as the forecast progresses and the heatwave moves northwards.

Temperatures are expected to reach up to 29c with full sunshine.

It’s issued for Thursday from 1pm until at least 7pm on Thursday evening.

However don’t worry if you don’t live in those counties as beautiful sunshine will cover the entire country and high temperatures are expected with minimums of 20c to 24c outside of the weather warning counties.
