BREAKING: Met Eireann issues nationwide snow and ice warning with motorists advised to be extra careful




Met Éireann has issued a nationwide snow and ice warning for tonight following a seven-county warning currently in effect.

The “Yellow Status” warning will go into effect today from 6pm and will apply until at least noon on Sunday.

The following is a previous warning that currently applies to Cavan, Monaghan, Donegal, Leitrim, Mayo, Roscommon, and Sligo.

Met Éireann warns of hail, sleet and snowfall with frost and dangerous conditions.

The warning for the seven Northeast counties expires today at noon, but will be followed by the national warning at 6pm.

There is also a yellow weather alert for Northern Ireland that is in effect from 4pm. from today until 10:30am. in the morning.

Snow and ice can disrupt travel in Antrim, Armagh, Down, Fermanagh, Tyrone, and Derry counties during this time.
