BREAKING: Met eireann warns to brace for it as lows of -4C forecast as nationwide with widespread ice warning issued

Temperatures are expected to fall sharply tomorrow night after Met Éireann issued a nationwide Status Yellow alert, warning that icy conditions could result in dangerous road surfaces and potential travel disruption.

The national forecaster said values may drop to as low as -4C, bringing a severe frost and widespread icy patches, reports RTE.

The Status Yellow warning is set to apply to every county from 9pm on Friday until 10am on Saturday.

Met Éireann said tomorrow night will be extremely cold, although temperatures are forecast to increase again as the weekend progresses, reports RTE.

However, conditions are likely to turn colder once more on Monday, with overnight temperatures falling to about -3C.

In general, the weather is expected to remain unsettled, with further frosty nights ahead as well as showers and more prolonged spells of rain at times, reports RTE.
