The Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) has confirmed the death of an adult due to a confirmed case of listeriosis, a bacterial infection. As of yesterday, nine cases have been identified.
The FSAI is investigating a widespread listeriosis outbreak linked to a precautionary recall of ready-to-heat meals, prompted by concerns over Listeria monocytogenes contamination.
The HSE’s Health Protection Surveillance Centre is examining the death but cannot disclose further details to maintain medical confidentiality. The recall includes ready meals from brands such as Tesco Finest, The Happy Pear, SuperValu Signature Taste, and Centra Freshly Prepared, produced by Ballymaguire Foods and sold at major supermarkets including Aldi, Centra, SuperValu, and Tesco under various brand names.
