People are being advised to get ready and prepared for widespread power outages, as Met Eireann warns winds will take out power in many people’s properties.
The national weather forecaster says that gusts and strong winds of up 130kph will hit Ireland hard, starting from 10pm on Thursday.
A red weather alert will begin for the entire country from midnight tonight.
Met Eireann has advised people to stay indoors where possible until the red alert is lifted. People are advised to make elderly friends, neighbours and family aware of the red alert and warnings.
