A “multi-weather hazard event” is likely to strike Ireland, with six counties under a Status Orange warning for snow and ice with heavy precipitation anticipated, reports RTE.

The counties of Carlow, Kilkenny, Wicklow, Clare, Limerick, and Tipperary will be under the warning from 5 p.m. tomorrow until 5 p.m. on Sunday.

According to Met Éireann, this might result in extremely challenging travel conditions, delays and disruptions to public transport (air, train and bus), problems with animal welfare and challenging circumstances on the ground, reports RTE.

From 1 pm tomorrow until 5 pm on Sunday, Cork and Kerry will be under a separate Status Yellow rain and snow warning, with heavy rain turning to sleet and snow.

According to Met Éireann, this may result in localised flooding, dangerous driving conditions, reduced visibility, and transport disruptions, reports RTE.

Additionally, from 5 p.m. tomorrow until 5 p.m. on Sunday, Leinster, Cavan, Donegal, Monaghan, Clare, Limerick, Tipperary, Waterford, and Connacht are under a Status Yellow snow and ice warning.

Antrim, Down, Tyrone, and Derry are under a yellow ice warning from 4 p.m. today until 10 a.m. tomorrow, according to the UK Met Office, reports RTE.

It issued a warning that travel conditions might become challenging due to ice surfaces.

Travel disruptions may result from sleet and snowfall accumulations, which are to be expected, reports RTE.

Met Éireann senior forecaster Gerry Murphy stated on RTÉ’s Morning Ireland that another frosty night is in store for today, extending the chilly weather.

According to him, temperatures might drop as low as -4C.

“As we go into tomorrow, we will see milder air with a band of rain moving in from the southwest, but because it is going to meet that very cold air as it pushes up across the country through tomorrow evening, tomorrow night into Sunday, it is going to turn to sleet and snow in many areas,” reports RTE.
