Gardaí are investigating after two bodies, a man and a child, at separate houses in Ballyfermot and Clondalkin in Dublin this morning.
Gardaí are investigating the discovery of the bodies of a man in his 40s and a male child at separate domestic residences in west Dublin on Thursday morning.
Emergency services were called to a house in the Cherry Orchard area of Ballyfermot shortly after 8:30am, where the man was found deceased.
During subsequent enquiries, the body of the young boy was located at a property in Clondalkin.
Both scenes have been preserved for technical and forensic examination by the Garda Technical Bureau.
The Coroner has been notified, and the services of the Office of the State Pathologist have been requested to conduct post-mortem examinations.
The man’s body has been removed from the Ballyfermot scene to the Dublin city morgue, while the child’s remains are still at the Clondalkin location.
While authorities suspect the deaths may involve foul play followed by suicide, they emphasise that the post-mortem results will guide the direction of the ongoing investigation, which is being overseen by a Senior Investigating Officer.
