In what can only be described as truly sickening news from the Dail this evening, the government has won the confidence vote held this afternoon.
The margin was 92 to 78, with the numbers need for a Dail laying out at 87.
This means that the government is effectively hanging on by 5 TDs, some of whom may even question their position after this vote.
Earlier, Michael Healy-Rae resigned as Minister for State. It remains to be seen what will happen now other than knowing that much of the public is severely fed up with Micheal Martin and Simon Harris.
