BREAKING: Trump says he’s giving Iran 48 hours to make a deal as search continues for downed pilot

The war between the United States, Israel and Iran has entered a dangerous new phase, with intensifying military strikes, a high-stakes search for a missing American pilot and renewed threats from US President Donald Trump.

A US F-15 fighter jet shot down over Iran has become a central flashpoint in the conflict. One crew member has been rescued, but the second remains missing, triggering a race between American and Iranian forces to locate them. Tehran has reportedly offered a financial reward for information leading to the pilot’s capture, underlining the propaganda and strategic value of the situation.

At the same time, Trump has warned that Iran has just 48 hours to agree to terms or face a major escalation. The ultimatum is the latest in a series of deadlines tied to demands that Tehran reopen the Strait of Hormuz, a vital global shipping route that has been heavily disrupted during the war.

Military activity has expanded across multiple fronts. Israeli forces have carried out airstrikes in Iran and Lebanon, targeting infrastructure and positions linked to Hezbollah. Iran, in turn, has launched missile and drone attacks against Israeli targets and vessels linked to its allies in the Gulf.

One reported drone strike hit an affiliated ship in the Strait of Hormuz, setting it on fire and highlighting the growing risks to international shipping in the region.

There have also been strikes near sensitive sites, including the Bushehr nuclear facility, prompting evacuations and raising fears of a wider although radiation leak has been reported. It’s increasingly affecting the global economy. Disruption in the Strait of Hormuz — through which a significant portion of the world’s oil supply passes — has pushed energy markets into turmoil and driven up prices worldwide.

On the ground, civilian casualties continue to mount across Iran, Israel and neighbouring countries. Airstrikes in Lebanon have caused injuries and damage to infrastructure, while millions across the region face displacement and worsening humanitarian conditions.
## Diplomacy stalls despite pressure

Efforts to broker a ceasefire have so far failed, despite mediation attempts by regional powers. Iran has signalled a willingness to engage in talks, but has not accepted US conditions, while Washington continues to link negotiations to strategic demands such as reopening key shipping lanes.

The conflict, now in its sixth week, shows little sign of de-escalation. With military intensifying, economic disruption spreading and diplomacy stalled, the situation remains volatile, with growing fears of a broader regional war.
