The almost impossible Brexit breakthrough was strongly a possibility prior to the weekend where reality showed how difficult it’s going to be in terms of getting a deal across the line.
The Taoiseach Leo Varadkar and the British Prime Minister Boris Johnson released a joint statement last week claiming that there is a pathway for the possibility of a Brexit deal.
Although no details of what was discussed at the meeting between the two have been revealed, it is thought that the pair discussed Britain’s recent proposals for withdrawal agreement, something similar to the original Northern Ireland backstop.
Now the DUP have announced that they have no interest in such a deal by declaring that whatever the UK mainland does, they must be included in the exact same circumstances.
