Britain’s Got Talent judge Simon Cowell was left in tears after meeting the contestant whose spinal surgery he paid for.

According to the Metro, Julia Carlile took part in the show as part of dance group Mersey Girls. After telling the judges that she was hoping to use part of the prize money of £250,000 to pay for essential spinal surgery, the group lost out on the main prize but Cowell still wanted to help.

He generously paid for Julia to fly to the USA and covered the cost of her spinal surgery which enabled her to carry on with her career. Two years’ later and Julia was back at Britain’s Got Talent, where she moved Cowell to tears when he realised that she was the same girl who had gone through the surgery and was now able to take part fully with her dance group.

While Julia thanked Simon for his help, he was choked up and could only manage a few words, saying that to see her there performing was a moment that “means everything”. His fellow judge Alesha Dixon was also delighted to see the group and gave them her golden buzzer which meant that they advanced straight into the final of the talent competition.
