An 11-year-old boy has suffered third degree burns after ignoring the advice of his mother and failing to wear sunscreen on one of the hottest days in UK history.
According to the Daily Mail, Nathan Herbert failed to use the protection of sunscreen before he went swimming after which he suffered the burns. As a result, he was not only forced to cancel his birthday party but has also been left in extreme pain.
Nathan’s mother, Nicole Williams, told the Mail that her son was happy to share the story in order to warn others of the dangers of going out in the sun without adequate protection. She also said that Nathan is unable to lie down or even wear a t-shirt without suffering terrible pain on his back. He is forced to undergo painful dressings in order to treat the burns and these add to his suffering and discomfort.
Authorities are recommending that no-one braves the extreme heat at the moment as they run the risk of damaging their skin in a serious way.
