One of the last surviving airmen who fought in the pivotal Battle of Britain has sadly passed away, aged 101.
Maurice Maudson’s gallant efforts to defend Britain in 1940 were remembered on his 100th birthday, as the Red Arrows performed a flyover over his home in Menorca, Spain, where he lived his retirement.
Flight Lieutenant Maudson passed away peacefully on Friday.
There are now only three surviving airmen who saw action in the Battle of Britain, all of them centenarians.
