Self-employed people are said to be in line to be granted a “significant” tax break in next month’s Budget, according to Minister for Finance Michael Noonan.
According to the minister, such move will be the first step in a three year programme whose goal is to equalise the difference between PAYE workers and the self-employed.
Currently, PAYE workers are in receipt of a tax credit worth €500, while self-employed people do not get.
It is understood that a new tax credit worth €150 will now be granted to the self-employed, and that such amount would gradually increase over the next three years.
Mr. Noonan added that the Government is determined to reduce taxes in the upcoming Budget.
