Budget 2026 is expected to include a €10 increase in the State pension and Social Protection rates.

Mortgage interest relief, which has supported over 60,000 households, will be extended for another year and phased out gradually by 2027.

Businesses can anticipate an enhanced Research and Development tax credit.

Tourism Ireland will receive additional funding to promote new direct flights to Ireland and explore reopening previously closed international offices.

Fáilte Ireland’s role will expand to include food businesses, following its transfer to the Department of Enterprise.

Minister for Education Helen McEntee is set to announce funding for 860 additional special education teachers and 1,700 new special needs assistants.

The Basic Income for the Arts scheme, currently a pilot providing 2,000 artists with €325 weekly, will become permanent. Applications for the permanent scheme will open next year, starting in September 2026. The Department of Culture will broaden eligibility criteria to include more artistic disciplines in the coming months.

Despite a pledge in the Coalition’s Programme for Government to increase the renters’ tax credit, it will remain at €1,000 for individuals and €2,000 for jointly assessed couples, with an extension expected at the current rate.
