Buskers in Dublin may soon be subject of noise regulation

Evening over the River Liffey

New bylaws set to be introduced by Dublin City Council in the near future will set out new rules for buskers.

According to these bylaws, buskers will have to maintain the noise level below that of a busy bar (80db), and will also need to move on from their chosen spot after two hours. Also , they will be banned from returning to the same spot for 24 hours.

They will also be no longer allowed to put on a show within a three meter radius of any business entrance or premises., and buskers will only be able to perform between the hours of 11am to 11pm.

The Council announced the introduction of these bylaws after a public consultation.

The new rules are said to be enforced by council patrols.

If the rules are ratified, they will come into effect next March, and would signal the first time that Dublin buskers are subject to regulation.
