There were disgraceful scenes of utter chaos outside an Irish hospital as paramedics were forced to treat people inside ambulances due to severe overcrowding.
The battlefield-like situation took place outside the Emergency Department of Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda overnight.
According to local reports, no fewer than 11 ambulances were stuck outside the facility with patients still inside, as people literally could not be moved due to a lack of beds and trolleys. This follows years of chronic overcrowding at most Irish hospitals as successive Health Ministers could not be bothered to address the progressively worsening situation.
Current Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly has not yet made any statement and he appears to still have a job.
