The UK may have experienced record breaking temperatures last week, but it seems shoppers have already been treated to a Christmas buzz nearly a full five months before the big day as Selfridges has opened its Christmas store.
In a move which is becoming more of the norm, the iconic store has claimed the title of becoming the first store in the world to launch its Christmas season.
Although many question the retail chain’s decision to open its Christmas store in the height of summer season, Selfridges say the departments early opening has proved to be very successful in recent years with record sales occurining ever since.
The company say the opening of its Christmas department has proven to be very popular with tourists who wish to pick up souvenirs that they can’t obtain closer to Christmas when they are at home.
