Citywest protests see 31 people arrested as gardaĆ­ appeal for young people to not get involved

A total of 31 people have now been arrested in connection with the riots that occurred over the past two nights in Citywest, Co Dublin.

Extensive criminal damage has been reported, and the disturbances have had a major effect on the local community and nearby services in Saggart and Citywest, with public transport experiencing significant disruption, reports Breaking News.

Among those arrested, 28 are men, including five teenagers.

Five women have also been detained, and 24 individuals have already appeared before the courts, reports Breaking News.

Four gardaĆ­ sustained injuries during the unrest. All four were treated in hospital and have since been discharged.

An Garda SƭochƔna confirmed that the injured officers are receiving the necessary welfare and counselling supports as required, reports Breaking News.

GardaĆ­ are urging the public—particularly young men—to stay away from the disturbances.

In a statement, they said: “This is not fun and games and entertainment for social media. The choices and reckless decisions you may make, to get involved or caught up in these events, may have serious consequences and adversely affect the course of your future,” reports Breaking News.

They also appealed to parents, families, friends, and community leaders to encourage young people not to participate in such activity.
