The Chief Medical Officer Dr Tony Holohan has said that over half of those in ICU are under the age 55.
Speaking about the latest number of cases, Dr Holohan said that there are currently 60 people in ICU with 32 of those under the age of 55.
Dr Holohan also warned that the incidence rate of the disease remains high and he urged those who are not yet vaccinated to take up the opportunity to get one.
He added that people must risk assess their activities and continue to practice public health measures such as mask wearing, social distancing and hand washing.
