RTE makes a rare criticism of President Joe Biden and his mismanagement of the US Afghanistan withdrawal

RTE’s Washington correspondent Brian O’Donovan, who many on social media believe is a staunch Democratic Party cheerleader, made an unexpected criticism of President Joe Biden.

Under the heading – Afghanistan crisis: A bad week for Biden – the RTE Washington correspondent wrote on RTE’s website;

“There has been a major focus on the intelligence failures that led to the chaotic scenes of the last week”

O’Donovan went on to explain the chaos of the US withdrawal, summing up, writing;

“The entire crisis has been politically damaging for Joe Biden, someone who has portrayed himself as the foreign policy president who understands world affairs”.

“After he (Biden) was elected, he vowed to work with allies and return the US to the international stage, following four years of Donald Trump’s ‘America First’ policies”.

“Mr Biden has also been seen as an empathetic leader who cares deeply about human suffering but when asked by ABC News this week about images of the chaotic scenes at Kabul Airport, he dismissed the question and appeared to become annoyed at the interviewer”.

“That was four days ago, five days ago!” Biden snapped.
With his nightly reports on RTE, Brian O’Donovan showed a dislike for the the previous President Trump.
Do you think this rare criticism of Biden be a once off to let off steam or will Mr O’Donovan and the national broadcaster continue with less biased news reporting?
