Communities around Wexford, Wicklow, Cork and Waterford are on high alert, as heavy rains may cause flooding over the next 48 hours.
A Status Yellow weather warning has been issued for these counties, in effect from 9pm Saturday until 2pm Sunday. Heavy and thundery rain is likely from this evening and overnight, which may lead to some localised flooding in low-lying areas.
There will be further showers on Sunday afternoon and evening, developing into longer spells of rain overnight and into Monday morning.
