Commuter chaos in Dublin again as Luas drivers walk out the job for a fourth day

Thousands of commuters in Dublin face another day of disruption, as Luas drivers have once again downed tools.

The ongoing dispute between drivers and the Luas operator, Transdev, centers around pay increase demands of up to 54%.

Further stoppages are planned for next month, including St. Patrick’s Day, if no agreement is reached.

SIPTU’s Eoin Reidy has said “The Luas over the past five years has generated increases in revenues of over 30% yet the workers have had only one increase in that period of time of 2½%.

“While it is an ambitious opening position that the workers have compiled and put together, they are very much prepared to negotiate.”
