The European Medicines Agency (EMA) is now probing a possible link between these compounds and a skin reaction, and also two potentially severe kidney disorders.
There are emerging reports of these compounds triggering erythema multiforme, an allergic reaction that is usually mild in nature, but can become life-threatening in a particular subset of patients.
There are also reports of people developing nephrotic syndrome and glomerulonephritis, two kidney-related conditions that can lead to severe fatigue, inflammation, and blood in the urine.
Both compounds are routinely administered in Ireland.
