The ongoing overcrowding crisis at Irish hospitals continues unabated.
Yesterday, the Mater Hospital in Dublin advised people to stay away from its A&E department due to overcrowding. Today, Cork University Hospital has cancelled all non-urgent surgeries for the same reason.
Hospital sources revealed that more than 1,700 patients attended A&E at the facility from 11-19 January.
According to a statement released, “Due to this increased level of activity and subsequent admissions, it is regrettable that some patients have experienced a delay in the ED.”
