Coronavirus: Barracks turned into mortuary ahead of the expected surge in Covid-19 deaths in Ireland

An army barracks is to be turned into a makeshift mortuary ahead of the expected surge in Covid-19 deaths in Ireland.

Work at Sarsfield Barracks, sited in Limerick city, has been ongoing for the past number of weeks, to erect suitable facilities to hold the bodies of those who succumb to the disease.

This is the second temporary mortuary to be built in Ireland, after a section of the Royal Hospital Kilmainham was turned into a mortuary.
