Coronavirus outbreak: Two more schools in Republic of Ireland to close due to concerns about the coronavirus

Two more schools in the Republic of Ireland have been closed due to concerns about the coronavirus.

The schools, in Co. Clare, have been linked to an outbreak of the disease among four members of a family who recently returned from Italy.

It is understood that the four are now being treated in hospital.

The official number of infections in Ireland now stands at nine, but this figure will likely rise significantly over the coming days and weeks.

It’s understood that the Department of Health are looking are more school closures, class closures or event cancellations should more cases be confirmed in the coming days.

Primary and secondary schools in North Clare will remain closed until at least 18 March to stop the spread of the virus with parents being updated via text message.
